Happy Valentine's Day!!! We have been talking in preschool about how you can show someone you like them. We decided to show our friends at Mitchellvillage Care Center that we liked them by bringing them a flower and a handmade valentine. We stopped by Hy-Vee and picked up some beautiful flowers....boy did they smell good! Grandma Cathy helped us deliver our valentines. We got to see the Mitchelville Care Center King & Queen, they looked like royalty in their robes. They gave us a treat of cake and ice cream.....yummmmm! Thank you everyone! What a great Valentine's Day!
What a busy day! For Valentine's Day I took the kids to the YMCA. We played in the kid's gym and went swimming! We had the whole pool to ourselves! We had a great time! I thought everyone would enjoy a fun day of swimming instead of candy.....right? We later went to deliver our valentines! What a day!
February is the Pink Month! Pink was our color bag!! We have enjoyed seeing all our friend's pink things. We have been talking about how can we show someone we like them with out saying it! They have really come up with some good ideas like: Giving a HUG, Giving a KISS (but not at daycare!), Giving them a GIFT, Being NICE to them, NOT Saying your BREATH STINKS! We had a bunch! We have been working on the letter "V". We have been working on patterns, writting our names, name identification (our own and our friends!),matching, our colors, teamwork, listen skills, and following directions, being a GOOD FRIEND!
You can see us making 68 homemade valentines for our friends at Mitchellvillage Care Center. Every helped making them. Some of us made more than others.....but everyone made more than 2! I allowed the children to have free choice in making their valentines. I just set heart shapes, lots of paint, stickers, crayons, makers, scissors, edge scissors, glue, streamers, glitter, glue sticks, foam shapes, paper doillies, and stars. We have been working on lots of things. Shawn made me a new sensory table.....if you look you'll see it.....its pink! I really love it....and so do the kids. I just recently got moon sand! Ask the kids what they think!
We will be starting the BOOK IT program through Pizza Hut March 3rd! I am very excited about this! This will be our first year! I hope this will encourage all my daycare families to become avid readers. The children have the opportunity to earn individual pizza's from Pizza Hut. Book orders from Scholastic will go out on Monday February 19, and need to be returned the following Tuesday! Hope you enjoy the pizza!!!! yummmmmmmmm
SNOW....SNOW....SNOW! We have had so much snow lately, so we decided to take advantage of the white stuff! We got out our nifty spray bottles and filled them with thinned paint! We had one rule!! SPRAY SNOW ONLY!!! It was a great time!! Everyone had their own spray bottle.....each with a different color! Everyone shared their color! It was one of the nicest days lately!!! It was so much fun! We even got to play on the equipment outside! Reminder parents......we will be going out whenever the weather cooperates!!!
We had a wonderful time at the Blank Park Zoo!! We rode the train, fed the animals in the petting area, fed the fish, played at the "NEW" playground, and had a picninc at the park. We couldn't ask for better weather. We had fun seeing all the animals. Ask your child which animal they liked best. We had one parent helper and my older kids help with the trip to the zoo. It was a great day!!
We made Mother's Day cards for our friends at Mitchell Village Care Center. We were unable to take the cards to them so one of our preschool friend's mom took them there for us. We really wanted to show our friends how much they mean to us! We really wish we could have been there to give the cards to them. Happy Mother's Day!!! Thank you for touching our lives!!
Jasper County Empowerment funded a program called I-Smile to come into our daycare and check the children's teeth and apply a flouride varnish. Meagan Edwards from Grinnell came and provided this service for us. I would like to thank Jasper County Empowerment and Meagan Edwards for the wonderfull service you provided for our daycare family! Thank You!
We went Maytag Park to paint the sidewalk! It was colder at the park than it was at our house. It was really windy! We still enjoyed painting with our sidewalk paint. Some of the kids made suns.....I think in hopes that it would get warmer! We played and ran around the park to get our blood pumping so we would get warmed up!!
