We had a great time at the science center even though 3 kids got sick there. I hope you enjoy the pictures. They had this heart beat monitor that you had to hold onto and everyone could hear your heart beat. We had each of the kids try it just normal and once after they had ran around the room a few times.....boy what fun!! Yes, we even got to hear Shawn's heart beat.....we didn't get to see him run though! Maybe next time! I was bummed that we didn't get to be on TV. We got to pet a snake....not my idea of fun. They seemed to enjoy that most of all. We had a blast at this red peg object. We did it over and over and over!
The month of February is already here wow.....2007 is already slipping away so fast. We will be having a Valentine party on Wednesday February 14th. I will not post the children's list here but you can pick one up at the house. This months themes are Ground Hogs Day, Presidents Day, Valentines Day, and Oral Health. We will have another field trip....this one is free!! I will let you know the date and information of this one as soon as I get everything set in stone.
Does anyone have any old magazines we can have. We also need empty thread spools.
It has been to cold to go outside lately. I have a weather chart posted on my board that lets you know when I am allowed to take the kids out. Since it shows no sign of warming up we will be going to the YMCA once a week, either on Tuesday or Thursday. Does anyone have a Y membership? I am able to get a discounted rate as a childcare provider. Your child will need a pass or $2.00 to go to the YMCA.
We have been working on the letter "S". We string painted, we dipped our string into paint and slithered it across our paper like slithery snakes. We glued string onto paper in the shape of an "S". We sang songs about snakes. We pretended we were snakes and slithered across the floor. We have been working on our body parts. We played body part bingo and sang songs about our body parts. We have been working on patterns with painting and small manipilitives. We got out our musical instruments and had a huge jam fest to new songs we were learning. We made and played in SNOW, yes SNOW. Not like we haven't had enough snow lately right! Snow also starts with the letter "S".We discussed how the snow felt in each stage. We took a vote on if the homemade snow would be cold or warm.We all agreed that it was cool! We made Shamrocks for St. Patricks Day. (Shamrocks also start with "S") We painted with SMALL paint brushes. We talked about how it took longer to paint a large area. We used a dice to put a new spin on an old favorite like Simon Says. We rolled a big dice and had to do what ever Simon Said that many times! What fun.....everyone got a chance to be Simone Says!We also went to Maytag Park (sorry no pictures) and got ice cream for a treat on the way home. Nedra has been our preschool helper and has been a wonderful help! Thanks Nedra!
OH I wish I was a silly slippery snake,
OH I wish I was a silly slippery snake,
I would slither across the floor and I'd slip up under the door.
Oh I wish I was a silly slippy snake.
Repeat as often as you enjoy!!
On Good Friday we had our preschool Easter egg hunt. We had so much fun despite the cold weather. We had to break out the cold weather wear. We had a couple parent visiters that helped out with little ones. My older kids were out of school for Easter Break and helped hide the eggs and helped some of the little ones find the hidden eggs. We had a "egg"sellent time. We hopped and dashed around looking for eggs.
The Circus is coming to town....Des Moines that is!(Circus May 4th,5th, & 6th at Vets) We had Deano from the Shriners Circus visit our preschool! WOW....we had so much fun clowning around and having a great time. Deano made us balloon figures like: swawns, flowers, hats, & swords. He gave us friendship bracelets. We had so much fun! Thank You Deano for coming and visiting! We had an awsome time! If you go to the circus look for Deano and remind him you saw him at Alicia's Loving Hands Daycare! We are going.....hope to see you there!!!
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
The "Pledge of Allegiance" was orginally written by Frances Bellamy in 1892.
We painted with balloons...wow what a popping good time! We really didn't have any balloons pop. It was fun new experience to paint with balloons. The kids thought we were going to paint onto balloons. When I told them we were painting with them they looked at me like I had joined the circus! The kids were able to do anything they wanted to with the balloons; mix paint, swirl it around, bounce it on the paper, dot it on, etc.
We have been doing lots of fun things. We planted flowers. They were supose to be for Mother's Day. They didn't grow....one sprouted and that's it. We also finger painted with mud. We read the book I like mud and mud likes me. We worked on our cutting skills. We have been working on patterns. We have been working on recognizing our letters. We really had a wonderful time with our mud. Some of us didn't like the mud painting......it was tooooo "yucky"
